Dear Brady-Higgins Family Members,
Our 15th Brady-Higgins Family reunion has been scheduled for July 30-August 2, 2009 at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. So let's "Viva Las Vegas" for four glorious days.
We have secured the best property on the strip for you to relax, meet new family members, renew acquaintances, and enjoy the lively action in the city that never sleeps. The host committee is busy planning an exciting reunion for you, your family members and your friends. We hopy our youth will gain a new appreciation for our history so they can continue to pass it down for generations to come so please bring the children to this historical place.
Our family has several individuals who believe they can play golf as well as Tiger does! They will have an opportunity to compete on Friday morning July 31, 2009 at one of our premier golf courses. On Saturday night during the banquet, the awards will be presented to first and second place winners. For those who want to shop until they drop, win that mega buck prize, view all the wonders of Las Vegas or just relax by the pool or in the sun, you will have plenty of time to do so.
- The reservation forms for the reunion and payments must be submitted on or before June 23rd, 2009. Fees are Adults-$120, Teens (12-18)-$95, Child (3-11)-$50. Any reservations received after this date will be increased by $25. A fee of $30 will be imposed for all returned checks.
- The hotel reservations must be made with Planet Hollywood and requires a first nights deposit of $109.00 for room and tax, per room. The cutoff date to reserve a room at this price is June 23rd, 2009. You must call the toll-free number at 877-244-9474 or direct 702-785-9455. After this date, the rates will be subject to hotel regular prices. In order to obtain the special group rate of $109.00 per night, you must identify yourself as being with the Brady-Higgins Family Reunion. All major credit cards are accepted.
- All expenses must be settled with the hotel by June 29, 2009 therefore the committee is requesting that you submit your registration fees as early as possible.
In addition to the above:
- The Brady-Higgins Family Scholarship committee will provide information for us to send out with the second mailing in early January 2009.
- Also if a family member died since our last reunion, please let the committee know so they can be recognized during our memorial service.
We hope that this information will help you decide to attend the 09' Reunion in Las Vegas. What a reunion in Tunica!!!
The 2007 Brady-Higgins Family reunion was held in Tunica, Mississippi and hosted by the Mississippi Committee (Chuck, Angie and all Rebecca Higgins’ grandchildren) at the Grand Casino Resort.
The entire weekend was absolutely gorgeous. Over 100 adults, youth and children were in attendance braving the Mississippi heat and tempting slot machines at the beautiful resort in Tunica.
The committee had a wealth of activities scheduled for the family including our Friday night check-in and meet and greet, Saturday gathering at the Riverpark Museum and nature walk along the Mississippi River (beautiful), and the anticipated Banquet that evening. The committee put together a spectacular dramatic presentation about Murr Higgins that left many in tears. After the banquet, it was time to get down at the dance.
Sunday morning service got everyone spiritually ready for the long trips home as Rev. Anthony Chatman, Rev. Charles Magby led the worship service. Rev. Andre Kellum provided us with an inspiring and motivational family message entitled "The other side of Jordan" and challenged us to commit to moving towards our family promised land.

Background
Mr. Simmie Brady of Warren, Ohio believed that it would be a good idea to have a family gathering at a time when families were not bereaved. Such a gathering would benefit the younger generations in that they could learn about their ancestors and meet relatives. At Simmie's request, Ms. Jim Brady-Lett and Mrs. Odie Madgy formed a committee with other family members to organize such a gathering. In 1980, approximately 125 family members and friends gathered in Five Points, Alabama at the homes of James and Lillie Brady and Wilson and Betty Brady for fun and fellowship.
Families came from all over the United States to enjoy a program and grand feast-at what would be the first (formal) Brady-Higgins Family reunion. Three years later, the family met again during the summer in Lafayette, Alabama. It was decided at this reunion that the family would meet every two (2) years on the last weekend in July.
Our thanks to Simmie Brady for bringing us together as a family and uniting us into family ties that has kept us together over the last 27 years. May God continue to bless you in our prayers. We look forward to seeing everyone in Mississippi 2007.
